Service Description

This class runs during the same time as the Beginner session. During the first three weeks of the session, artist Christine Hubbell will introduce new students to painting with colored pencils. Color theory, techniques for layering and blending and composition will be covered. Working with botanical subjects, students will explore ways to produce vibrant color, rich neutrals, and a variety of textures. More advanced students will join in week 4 and bring their own reference materials or photos to work on a subject of their choice with guidance from the instructor. Beginning drawing skills are helpful but not required. Fine art paper included. Suggested supply list: - A minimum set of 12 artist grade colored pencils, either Prismacolor Premier or Faber Castell Polychromos - Additional individual colors (instructor will provide a list during class) - A good auto-in, manual hand-crank pencil sharpener such as Deli manual desktop pencil sharpener or Rapesco 64 pencil sharpener (available on Amazon/Walmart) - Kneadable eraser - Drawing pad or sketchbook - Pencil
