We partner with Opportunity Enterprises (OE), well established in the community for serving adults with disabilities. The program provides weekly art classes at Art Barn which rotate on a quarterly basis, serving a different group of 10 adults each rotation (up to 40 adults a year). A culminating exhibition of student work is held annually during developmental disabilities awareness month in March.

Inquiries about participating in this program can be directed to Payton Summers / Social Services Specialist at Opportunity Enterprises Payton.summers@oppent.org 219.464.9621 (x261)

2:00-4:00pm

$15 per session / MAY.  JUN.  AUG.

The "Art in the Park" series of events is hosted by the Indiana Dunes National Park in partnership with the Art Barn School of Art. Classes are open to beginners, and accessible to those with physical limitations and each session features a different theme related to the National Park or dunes.

Art Barn instructor Dori Huber will guide students through the process of painting a scene inspired by the dunes. By coming together our organizations are collectively able to accomplish a common goal of reaching more individuals through cultural programming that links art and nature together.

GOLDEN YEARS ART CLUB
In Partnership with Pines Village

Our collaboration with Pines Village Retirement Communities called “Golden Years Art Club” is designed as a Creative Aging program for ages 65+ which provides weekly art classes for 6 weeks with a culminating exhibition. Participants are transported from the facility and members of the community drive to meet at Art Barn for art instruction with a social component to help students build connections with others. This program helps participants retain a healthy quality of life.

AmeriCorps is a government funded grant program supported by United Way of Northwest Indiana in our region. AmeriCorps members focus their service time on capacity building, youth mentoring, tutoring, and/or career advising. The program can be found in all 50 states. Our funder, AmeriCorps, has specific expectations of Art Barn School of Art which involves oversight, data collection, appropriate paperwork, and match funds. United Way will guide you through the process of hosting an AmeriCorps member. Compliance is crucial for success.

Currently, an AmeriCorps member serves at our site to help us build capacity by serving as a Program & Marketing Member and is a vital member of our team.
