Service Description

If you have ever felt overwhelmed by mixing color, this is the workshop for you. During this day-long workshop, taught by Julia Homaas, we'll talk about the three primary colors - yellow, red, and blue, and learn about color temperature and how to avoid making mud. Learn to simplify your palette and carry fewer tubes of paint whether you work indoors our en plain air, in watercolor, acrylic, or any other medium. Julia is adept in painting in oil and gouache as well as watercolor, and will demonstrate how to use a double primary palette in various media. Bring your current paints and palettes, brushes, and your favorite paper or canvas to paint on. Please bring professional-level paints such as Windsor & Newton, Gamblin, or Rembrandt and include the following colors: lemon yellow or hansa yellow light, new gamboge, ultramarine blue, prussian or pthalo blue, premanent alizarin crimson or permanent rose, and permanent red medium or scarlet lake. A limited number of easels and boards are available for student use.
