Service Description

Complex and colorful, birds are one of the most common subjects among wildlife artists. Join bird artist Alex Warnick as she shares some of the tips and techniques she's gained over years of painting birds professionally. In this full day workshop, participants will learn how to capture birds' critical proportions and anatomy, simplify effectively, and avoid common pitfalls. Alex will demonstrate her process of using layered washes and dry brushing to capture rich color and fine detail. Participants will develop skills that will help them to express the beauty of birds while learning watercolor processes that can be applied to any subject matter. Morning coffee & tea and lunch will be served on-site. This workshop is open to all levels, ages 18+, and a suggested supply list will be shared with participants ahead of time. Registration deadline: May 22 . Alex Warnick is a recipient of the Donald Eckelberry Fellowship from the Academy of Natural Sciences and has partnered with national and international organizations to highlight birds from all over the world. Her work has been featured by the National Audubon Society, The American Birding Association, and Birdwatcher's Digest. You can learn more about Alex and her work at alexwarnick.com
