Service Description

Mid May is peak migration season for many of the 350+ species of birds that travel through Northwest Indiana each year. With its rural location and 69 acres, Art Barn is an ideal setting for budding birders to see both some familiar backyard birds and some migrating visitors. Families can drop in any time between noon and 4pm to work on a paper collage bird mobile or garland, learn a little more about some of our feathered friends, and see pollinators in action in Art Barn’s “Monarch-Maker” gardens. This free program is supported by the Dunbar Family Foundation. As part of Indiana Audubon’s 2024 Indiana Dunes Birding Festival, which will attract around 1000 bird enthusiasts to the Duneland area from May 16-19, adults attending the festival can register to go on a guided birding hike at the Art Barn during the afternoon.
